Project West Shawnigan

Shawnigan Lake, BC

Lakeside Cottage Retreat

Nestled in the heart of Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia, the Lakeside Cottage Retreat is a thoughtfully-designed escape, designed by DB Interiors + Design, Shawnigan Lake Interior Designer, that blends contemporary comfort with the natural beauty of Vancouver Island. This custom interior design project transforms a traditional cottage into a warm, inviting, and highly functional lake house that celebrates relaxed waterfront living.

The renovation focuses on creating bright, open concept living spaces that maximize natural light, lake views, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections. The home’s interior features custom millwork, carefully selected finishes, modern lighting, and a neutral palette inspired by the surrounding forest and shoreline.

The spacious kitchen serves as the heart of the home, featuring a large gathering island, custom cabinetry, premium finishes, and an efficient layout designed for entertaining family and guests. Adjacent living and dining spaces provide a welcoming atmosphere with comfortable furnishings, natural textures, and expansive windows that frame the stunning Shawnigan Lake landscape.

A thoughtfully designed mezzanine adds architectural character while creating additional living space that enhances the cottage’s functionality. Throughout the home, every detail was carefully considered to balance modern luxury with the casual charm of lakeside living.

The project showcases DB Interiors’ expertise in residential interior design, lake house renovations, cottage remodels, custom home interiors, space planning, and material selection. The result is a timeless Vancouver Island retreat that reflects the homeowners’ lifestyle while embracing the beauty of its natural surroundings.
